During my Fall 2015 semester at California State University Northridge, I completed a Business Memo assignment for a "Business Communication" course.
The purpose of this assignment was to practice responding to potentially unethical business situations. Therefore, I received a scenario and wrote a business memo with my recommendations for the proper course of action to resolve the situation. From this practice, I will be able to better recognize unethical business practices, as well as communicate my opinions in an official manner, upon entering a business environment.

International Business Letter
During my Fall 2015 semester at California State University Northridge, I completed an international letter assignment for a "Business Communication" course.
The purpose of this assignment was to write a letter to an international company while keeping the reader's culture in mind. In my case, I write a letter to a business partner in South Korea. Thus, I made sure to begin my letter with a polite and conversational greeting, rather than getting right down to business. I also intentionally kept out detailed descriptions of my product in the letter. Many correspondences can be expected when conducting business with a Korean company, thus further details can be left for later discussions. These are just some characteristics specific to Korean business culture that I considered when writing this international business letter.

My decision to write to a South Korean company may have been slightly influenced by my yearlong study abroad adventure in South Korea. Here, I am pictured lounging beneath a temple at Bukhansan Mountain in Seoul, South Korea.

Etude House
This course culminated with a group project, including a 10-minute video, written report, interviews, and surveys. Due to the business-focus of this class, my group set out to determine if celebrity endorsements impact the image and sales of cosmetics brands. We chose to base our study on the cosmetic brand Etude House, looking at the different marketing methods used by Etude House sites across Asia.

In this powerpoint, slides 2 and 4 include videos that were shown to the audience during our presentation. Slide 2 shows an actual Etude House commercial, while Slide 4 shows an Etude House Commercial made by my group. The actual commercial uses celebrities to endorse the product, while our video simply uses our project group members. The goal in doing this was to ask the audience which commercial would make them more likely to buy this product. Below, you are able to watch both of these videos and decide for yourself.

Arm Signals
During my Fall 2015 semester at California State University Northridge, I enrolled in a "Business Communication" course, which focused on the development of critical writing, thinking, research and technology skills in the context of business. The final project for this course was a group presentation outlining an assigned chapter of The Definitive Book of Body Language by Allan & Barbara Pease.
The chapter assigned to my group, "Arm Signals", covers various arm gestures and their meanings, as well as which arm signals should be used in a business environment.
Our Prezi presentation outlining this chapter can be viewed by clicking on the following link:

Immigration: South Korea vs the U.S.
My research question for this report was as follows: How have the differing identities of South Korea and the U.S. (ethnic vs civic nation) influenced their reactions to immigration/multiculturalism?
