The Philip E. Love English 205 Scholarship

The Philip E. Love English 205 Scholarship is an award for students whose achievements in the study of Business Communication are considered by the faculty as most distinguished. This award is funded by the family of Philip E. Love, a local entrepreneur who successes in the professional world occurred before he could finish his bachelor's degree, and kept him from returning to complete it. Thus, this award both encourages and recognizes continuing academic achievement for students who are also committed to the professional business world.
During this fall 2015 semester, I have been selected as the recipient of the Philip E. Love English 205 Scholarship. The application for this scholarship required an essay discussing my understanding of business communication, as well as how I plan to use my business degree in the future. My time in English 205: Business Communication has been incredibly beneficial to my future in the professional business world. For example, I have learned how to write a resume, draft an international letter, present myself in front of an audience, and so much more. Thus, I wrote my essay for the Philip E. Love English 205 Scholarship with a true passion for the subject.

Elaine Whittington Scholarship

The Elaine Whittington is an achievement award offered to full-time students in the San Fernando Valley who are pursuing a business-related major such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics. As a Supply Chain Management major, I applied for this award during the Fall 2014 semester with the intent of applying this 2014 ISM-SFV scholarship winners scholarship towards my study abroad expenses. After receiving this award and leaving to attend Yonsei University in South Korea for a year, I found it to be very helpful fund my academic and living expenses while abroad.
Along with this, I attended the NAPM-SFV Supplier Night and trade show, where received my award and was able to meet many suppliers and supply chain professionals. From this event, I was able to gain industry knowledge, new ideas, as well as a look at new sources of materials and services.

San Gennaro Scholarship
Awarded By: San Gennaro Foundation
The goal of the San Gennaro Foundation is to pass on the lessons learned from St. Gennaro, the patron Saint of Naples, Italy who worked tirelessly to help people in need. Along with this, the an Gennaro Foundation seeks to promote unity and cooperation among Italian Americans. Thus, the San Gennaro Scholarship is offered each year to Italian Americans to help pay for college. During my Fall 2014 semester at California State University Northridge, I became a recipient of this scholarship. Although I am not a part of the Italian American community, I expressed how much the Italian culture has influenced my life thus far, in regards to food, media, and friendships.
The awardees of the San Gennaro Scholarship were featured in the program for the Italian Feast of San Gennaro Prima Notte Opening Night Gala. At this Italian festival, I participated in a parade with my fellow awardees and enjoyed food, music, and entertainment in celebration of the Italian culture.
